We have had a lot of exciting changes with our team to share with you since our last newsletter.
First, in May we welcomed attorney Jenna Kyle Meltzer to our office. Jenna is a graduate of Stetson University College of Law and we are so fortunate to have her join us. Jenna will be primarily helping our clients with their estate planning and trust administration needs. Although she has only been with us for a few short months, we already can’t imagine life at the office without her.
Jenna is from Nova Scotia, Canada, and when she isn’t helping us at the office, Jenna enjoys spending time with her husband and her two pugs, Georgie and Annie.
In April, Kaitlyn Pacut joined our team. We knew when we hired Kaitlyn that we would only get to enjoy her smiling face for a few months because she was on her way to Stetson University College of Law in the fall. Kaitlyn will be leaving us on July 23 to get ready to start law school in August. Kaitlyn has been a huge help to us and to our clients. We will miss her terribly, but she has promised to stay in touch and share her law school journey with us.
Lilly Burns just joined our team. She will be taking Kaitlyn’s place. Lilly is in her last year of undergraduate school at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland, and is studying to receive an LLB degree, Bachelor of Law. Born in Orlando by parents who are United Kingdom citizens, Lilly enjoys dual UK/US citizenship, hence her pre-Covid college sojourn in Scotland. When she isn’t helping us at the office, Lilly is focused on earning her private pilot’s license, enjoying scuba diving adventures in Florida waters, and playing with her 4-year-old retired Greyhound, Crusoe.
Our entire team looks forward to helping you with your estate planning, elder law, probate, or trust administration needs. Now that some of the pandemic restrictions are easing, we are able to actually see more of you in person for certain types of appointments, which is a welcome change. If you do have an in-person office appointment, masks are now optional for fully vaccinated clients.
Our Favorite Places to Eat
We are so lucky to live in a Florida “foodie” area that offers such a variety of innovative and delicious restaurant choices. We decided that for this newsletter, it would be fun to share some of our favorites with you.

I have two favorites and they are both located in the Grand Central District of St. Petersburg, which puts them within easy walking distance of our office. (If I walk there then the calories don’t count, right?) My favorite lunch spot is Love Food Central. They make an amazing black bean and beet burger that I couldn’t even begin to duplicate at home. If I am having an especially stressful day, I head for Black Crow Coffee. They have incredible gluten-free blueberry and cranberry orange muffins that never fail to brighten my day and soothe my soul!

One of my husband’s and my favorite places to go out to eat is O’bricks Irish Pub & Martini Bar in downtown Bradenton. It was the last place we ate at before the pandemic began and the first one we went to once things started to return back to some degree of normalcy. All of their food is extremely delicious, one of my personal favorites is their smoked fish dip! It’s always nice to have a night out and not have to worry about cooking or cleaning the dishes. It is definitely something I try to do at least once every 1-2 weeks.

My home kitchen. My favorite place to eat is at home with my family. I am the family baker and my husband is the chef. Food preparation starts by placing our almost-two-year-old in a learning tower where we set him up with a measuring cup and Bundt cake pan. Let the fun (and noise) begin. Learning which food he likes and discovering new ways to encourage him to try something is always an adventure. I’m fortunate that my husband’s previous career was as a chef in a busy restaurant and so he is well versed in the culinary arts. I lean on his expertise to keep the creative juices flowing in our kitchen. I’m the focused shopper endlessly searching for new and healthy food options to bring home and serve as inspiration. As a team, we hope to teach our son to enjoy food, eat lots of vegetables and always keep room for dessert.

My favorite restaurant in the surrounding area is the Snack Shack on Madeira Beach. It is a little restaurant and bar, located directly on the beach, where you are able to eat some great food outside under some tiki huts and enjoy the most amazing view of the ocean with friends and family. Most days they’ll have live music as well so everyone is always happy, singing and dancing along with sand under their toes! My family loves this place so much that we have spent the last two Mother’s Day celebrations and my graduation there. If you are ever looking to enjoy a nice meal outside, as well as the best view Florida has to offer, this is the place for you!

After moving to St Petersburg last year, I made it my mission to discover the best restaurants around town. From breathtaking views to mouthwatering food, there are plenty of notable eateries to mention. However, I have found my frontrunner: The Lemongrass. Located downtown on Central Avenue, The Lemongrass offers an extensive menu and relaxing indoor setting, as well as a dog-friendly patio! With vibrant flavors and dynamic dishes, this is definitely the place to visit when you’re craving Thai food or sushi!

I must admit that I may classify as a comfort food junkie. That’s not to say I indulge every day, mind you. But when that hankering strikes me, I wend my way to Munch’s Restaurant & Sundries, a south St. Petersburg staple since 1952. Ah, the sheer bliss of slurping a handmade vanilla milkshake accompanied by a savory Munchburger and generous side of fried green tomatoes. Or, maybe better yet, include those fabulous onion thins! Yes, from Aunt Sandy’s Sausage to its award-winning BBQ ribs, Munch’s is my absolute favorite go-to place when I’m craving that good ol’ comfort food.
Words of Wisdom From Our Pets:
“Don’t Forget About Us!”
Zack and Zoe have been living with us in the office for a year now. They have grown from rambunctious kittens to teenagers exploring their limits. However, starting life as feral kittens has made them still painfully shy around new people, but we are working to slowly coax them into a broader comfort zone.
Our pets become such an integral part of our families (both at home and at work) that it is painful to imagine them outliving us and needing a new pet parent to care for them – but it can happen. Zack and Zoe wish to remind all of us not to forget about our furry family members when putting our wills in place.
The plan can be as simple as naming who you wish to care for your pets and perhaps allocating a sum of money to help defray the cost of care. Several of our local animal shelters also have options in place for assisting your pets to find new homes.
We are happy to share any information we have about estate planning for your pets. They give so much to us, and we can help you explore the options for making sure they are not forgotten at what may be the time of their greatest need.
